Eudemonia
Eudemonia is a celebration of happiness, beauty and the quiet confidence that comes from feeling at home within yourself.
At the centre of the painting is a striking female figure, surrounded by a vibrant world of orange, gold, pink and red. Her eyes are softly closed, giving her a peaceful, almost meditative presence, while her elaborate dark hair is woven with bold flowers and intricate flowing patterns.
The warm background seems to move around her, filled with abstract shapes, looping lines and bursts of colour. There is an uplifting energy throughout the work, yet the figure herself remains calm and centred amongst it all. The flowers tucked into her hair bring a sense of nature, femininity and joy, contrasting beautifully against the deep blacks and structured patterns.
Look closer and the simplicity of the portrait gives way to layers of detail. Fine lines travel across her face and body, patterns emerge within her hair and small unexpected forms appear throughout the background. The combination of strong graphic outlines and expressive colour gives the painting a feeling that is both playful and deeply peaceful.
To me, Eudemonia is about more than happiness in a fleeting sense. It represents a deeper kind of fulfilment, the feeling of living with purpose, embracing who you are and finding beauty within yourself and the world around you.
